The crash took place in Hartford County around 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 19 on I-84 in Southington.
According to state police, Elijah Joseph Vallier, age 24, of New Britain, was driving a 2003 Ford F-250 truck eastbound on the highway in the right lane of three when the driver of a 2023 Tesla Model 3 driven by Fairfield County resident Shannon James Sherry, age 47, of Fairfield, veered across the center lane, into the right lane and collided with the truck.
Due to the collision, Vallier lost control of the truck, which traveled across the center lane and entered the grassy median before it rolled over and collided with the metal guardrail on the left shoulder, state police said.
The Telsa came to a controlled stop on the right shoulder of the interstate, police added.
Vallier sustained serious injuries as a result of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene, state police said.
